What book has changed your life the most? How did it affect your way of life and your perspectives?

Many people claim that books have changed their lives. For you, what was the book that you fully read and understood and noticed that it had an effect on your life? What book made you want to change for the better? What book made you realize the meaning of life? What book changed you as a whole?

I don't think there is a master narrative that told me how and why to live. However, books seem to help me on my way wherever I go.

For instance, Rebbeca by Daphne DuMaurier made me love the classics. Sula by Toni Morrison made me appreciate my mother. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen made me understand my father. A love for the Harry Potter series gave me something in common with my sister. My husband initiated our first conversation with me at a cafe because I was reading The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, and he had enjoyed the book previously.

However, if you want a book that will change your life without any outside factors, Siddhartha is a good one. Herman Hesse also wrote a book called Demian that I think is pretty good as well. If you read both, I think they're bound to change your life.

%26quot;What Does The Bible Really Teach?%26quot; It has changed millions of peoples lives. It answers, %26quot;Why do we suffer?%26quot;, %26quot;How can we cope with life's anxieties?%26quot;, %26quot;How can we make our family life happier?%26quot;,%26quot;What happens when we die?%26quot;, %26quot;Will we ever see our dead loved ones again?%26quot; hint_of_a_rose@yahoo.com

The God of Small Things
The Kite Runner.
Siddhartha - Herman Hesse. It made me understand that life is much more than what we see around us.
I would have to say, %26quot;The Autobiography of Malcolm X%26quot;. I wouldn't say that it changed my life, but it opened my eyes to who I was as black woman in America and also taught me that certain conditions in our lives have caused us to take different paths such as Malcolm X spent time in prison but yet he found redemption afterwards.
The most recent book I've read that has had a profound effect on my life is %26quot;Crying Mountain%26quot; by Lili Dauphin. It has inspired me to change my life for the better. It can be found at Amazon.
