Anyone here facing a life-threatening or terminal illness? How has it changed your life perspective?

What are some of the biggest changes in your life that made you say, Wow! I now view life differently? Goals, way of life, frienships, values, etc.

My friend said it made her wonder about her purpose on earth and doesn't value material things as much.

I can tell you I don't get stressed over the little things anymore as a Stage 3B Breast CAncer survivor I don't take things for granted anymore. I know this sounds wierd but having cancer was the best thing that ever happened to our family. (not having it all would have been better of course) we used to lead our own lives and now we sit down and have family dinners together we light the campfire outside and roast hot dogs and marshmallows. I realized that god has given me a second chance at life and I am going to live it right and grasp it with both hands.

I'm not facing a life threatening illness at the present, but I am a AML (acute myeloid leukemia) survivor. It's been nearly 6 years and I still experience the changes to my way of thinking every single day. Material things don't matter, the nice car and the trips and the career are irrelevant. What is important now is my family and enjoying each and every day as if it's my last.
