What book have you read that changed your life, or perception of it?

I have started to take some time to read some very thought provoking books now that I don't have a TV - Capote Truman, Aayan Hirsi Ali, books about the dead sea scrolls, and it has really started to make me re-evaluate things.

The book Veronika Decides to Die by Paulo Coelho Really is a very good book. It is a fiction book and despite the depressing title its actually really uplifting! Its about a girl who attempts suicide, doesn't die but gets told her organs are failing and she soon will. She then goes through a lot of emotional stuff and realises she doesn't want to die. There is a twist to the tale and its really life affirming.

The Woman in White - Wilkie Collins

It's a perfect book, an interesting narrative, and as lame as it sounds, it did kind of change me a bit. I'm better for having had the chance to read it, and I'm glad that Collins wrote such a perfect story...
