Yes it happened to me. I had worked for the same company for 8 years and was becoming part of the furniture. I was made redundant and got a job on 4 grand a year more doing the same job.
no but its hanging over my head at the moment and with 20 years service under my belt in June, i could be worth a few bob and be able to find me a less stressful job and start winding down for my last 15 years employment before i get my bus pass
