Generally speaking I would say that $10 million (US$) is sufficient for total economic freedom. With that amount you can put half into safe investments, and live off the interest (about $250,000 a year) indefinitely. The other $5 can be used for major purchases, or for major investments (e.g. starting companies, buying a yacht or a plane, etc.)
That's the answer if you want to never have to work again. Any amount of cash in the bank less than perhaps $2 million and you would likely have to work, because you can only count on a 5% rate of return on your investments over the long term (unless you spend your life investing, which I would call work).
As for what would %26quot;change your life%26quot;, that's way too subjective a question for me to answer.
By the way, recent psychological research shows that money does not cause happiness. In fact it may be the other way around.

But to make any meaningful life changes it would have to be in the several million.
At 5% interest 1 million dollars will get you $50,000 per year.
Just how far will that get you in todays market place?
Now that is nothing to sneeze at but not enough to make a big change in my life.
Right now, 1,000 would change my life.
Not all means life change by money but own success on biz or new invent on product or etc... will change our life. i still planning on this. hope you will joint me one day.not how much you have but how much $$$ drop into our pocket every day.
All I want is money to mess w/ cars so about 50-200k for that, any more than that would go to creating an orphanage, good quality orphanage.
